Coorg is a picturesque hill station located in the deep valleys in the state of Karnataka. This hill station is also known as “Kodagu”. It is popular for its scenic beauty. Apart from its natural beauty this hill station also possesses a rich cultural and historical background. This beautiful hill station is also known for its coffee, spice plantations, and forest honey. Climate and best time to visit Coorg Hills

The climate in Coorg can best be described as pleasant with, the temperature during summer months of March to May being on warmer side with the maximum temperature remaining under 34 degrees. The monsoon which begins in June and ends in September receives heavy rainfall especially during the month of June. While during the winter months that lasts from December to February the minimum temperature recorded is about 13 degrees. The ideal time to visit the scenic hill station is in between October to April.

Places to Visit Around Coorg

Tadiyendamol: Is located at an altitude of 1746 meters above sea level. It is considered to be the highest peak in the Coorg region. The landscape of this peak is ideal for trekking.
Abbey Falls: Is a major tourist attraction in Coorg. The view of the water falling from a height of 70 feet is certainly breath taking. Also the view from the hanging bridge built across the gorge is extremely beautiful and is most definitely soothing to the eyes.
Pushpagiri Wildlife Sanctuary: Is a renowned wildlife sanctuary not only in Coorg but also in the Karnataka state itself. It is home to many rare and endangered birds and hence a pure ornithologist’s delight. This sanctuary is surrounded by greenery as it is connected with the Bisle reserve forest from one side and the KukkeSubramanya forest range on the other side.
Madikeri Fort: Is a historical fort that represents events of victory and defeat since the time Muddu Raja during the 17^th century. It was originally supposed to have been made out of mud. It was years later that Tipu Sultan rebuilt this fort by using his architectural ideas i.e. using granite and named the site “Jaffarabad”. This fort consists of several historical weapons and artifacts.
Gaddige: Is also popularly known as “Raja’s Tomb” is located on top of a hill. Gaddige consist of a number of royal tombs belonging to the Kodava dynasty. These tombs have depictions of Lord Shiva on them. The architecture of this historical monument is Indo-Saracenic in design with domes at the centre and turrets at the corners.
