In India there exist three major seasons i.e. summer, monsoon, and winter. Unfortunately what many do not know is that there exist another season known as spring. Now spring is a season in which the temperature is not too high and not too low and hence is the ideal time to enjoy a vacation. And the best way to enjoy a relaxed vacation in spring is to travel to a hill station that provides for a perfect “spring” atmosphere.The ten popular hill stations that are perfectly suited to visit during spring are as follows

  1. Gangtok-Sikkim:

Gangtok is the capital and largest city in Sikkim. This city which is elevated at an altitude of 1,650 meters above sea level is renowned for the Tibetan Buddhist culture. It is also an ideal destination to visit during spring due to its pleasant climate which includes cool winds.

  1. Coonoor-Tamil Nadu:

Located in the Nilgiris district in Tamil Nadu at an altitude of 1,850 meters above sea level Coonoor is a popular hill station in the country. It is also during spring that the climate in this hill station is at its most pleasant and, hence a perfect destination to travel to during this season.

  1. Kullu- Himachal Pradesh:

Located on the banks of the Beas River in Himachal Pradesh, Kullu is a scenic and popular hill station. While spring is the best time to visit this hill station not only due to its cool climate but also because of the beautiful sights of apple and plum orchards in full bloom that can be witnessed.

  1. Manali- Himachal Pradesh:

Located at a distance of about 270 km from Shimla in Himachal Pradesh, Manali is an extremely scenic hill station. This hill station with regards to climate (similar to Kullu) is at its best during spring due to its cool climate and beautiful sights of apple and plum orchards in full bloom.

  1. Darjeeling- West Bengal:

Darjeeling is a scenic town that is located in West Bengal and is popular for its tea production. With climate during spring being extremely pleasant this hill station should certainly be visited during spring.

  1. Kasauli- Himachal Pradesh:

Located at about 77 km away from Shimla, Kasauli is a scenic hill station and popular tourist hotspot. It is during spring when the climate is pleasant and the environment is filled with greenery and blooming flowers that visiting this town becomes an absolute pleasure.

  1. Thekkady-Kerala:

Famous for the “Periyar National Park” Thekkady is a beautiful hill station located in Kerala in the Idukki district. It is during spring though when this hill station is at its best and one can witness mango plants in full bloom. It is also during this period due to the pleasant climate many animals emerge from within the forest. And hence spring is most definitely the season in which one must visit Thekkady.

  1. Gulmarg- Jammu and Kashmir:

Renowned for being a skiing destination, Gulmarg originally named “Gaurimarg” is a beautiful hill station located in the Baramulla district in Jammu and Kashmir. While spring is the best time to visit this place especially due to presence of the beautiful Tulip gardens which blossoms only during this season.

  1. Kotgarh-Himachal Pradesh:

Located in Himachal Pradesh at about 82 km away from Shimla is scenic hill station known as Kotgarh. It is during spring that this hill station comes alive with the blossoming of apple orchards and pine trees along with a pleasant climate.

  1. Valley of Flowers National Park-Uttarakhand:

Valley of Flowers is a National Park that is located in West Himalaya in Uttarakhand and is known for its beautiful meadows. It is during spring that the blooming of the flowers can be observed and, hence it is the ideal time to visit this magnificent National Park.
