Binsar is a charming hill station located in the state of Uttarakhand in India. Over the years Binsar has become a popular tourist destination. The major reason being the presence of “Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary”. This Wildlife Sanctuary consists of wide range of flora and fauna ranging from 25 types of trees, 24 types of bushes, to 7 variety of grasses while, the mammals in this sanctuary include leopard, Himalayan goral, chital etc. This destination is not only beautiful but extremely tranquil as well. So if you are looking for tranquility along with enjoying the true beauty of nature then Binsar is the place for you.

By train:

Since Binsar does not have its own railway station the closest railway station is the Kathgodam station which is connected to all major cities like Delhi, Lucknow, Kolkata etc.

By road:

There several bus services running from towns like Almora, Nainital, and Haldwani to Binsar. Also many other cities in and around Binsar provide bus service to Binsar.

By flight:

The nearest airport to Binsar is Pantnagar airport in Uttarakhand. Taxi service to Binsar is available at the airport. Delhi also provides for regular flights to Binsar.

Climate and best time to visit Binsar Hills

The climate of Binsar is basically subtropical with, temperatures during the summer months of April to June ranging from 30 degrees maximum to 15 degrees minimum while, winters which starts from October and ends in February remain extremely cold with temperatures in the range of 24 degrees maximum to 0 degrees minimum.  As for the monsoons this region receives moderate rainfall from July to September. So the ideal to visit Binsar is during summer or during early part of winter.

Places To Visit Around Binsar

Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary: This is a superb site spread across a vast expanse of land. It has a wide variety of flora and fauna including some rare species of birds. The majestic Himalayan range can be viewed from here. The forest is abundant in rhododendron, oak, pine, and deodar trees.

Zero Point: This is a site located inside the Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary that offer a 300 kilometers magnificent view of the Himalayan Mountain peaks that include Shivling, Kedarnath, Nanda Devi, and Trishul.

Bineshwar Temple: This 13th-century temple is devoted to Lord Shiva and is considered to be constructed by King Kalyan Chand of the Chand Dynasty. Its superb architectural works are mention-worthy.

GoluDevata Temple: It is a mythological temple where the deity is believed to be the incarnation of Gaur Bhairav or Lord Shiva.

Binsar Sanctuary Museum: This museum is completely dedicated to the wide range of flora and fauna of the region.

Kasar Devi Temple: This is great attraction for especially the foreigners. Swami Vivekananda once performed his meditation here and since that time it gained popularity.

Other places of interest nearby: Kausani, Bageshwar, Jageshwar, Almora, BajinathTmeple, Nanda Devi Temple, and Katarmal Temple are some other notable tourist sites of interest that can be planned on a weekend from Binsar.
