Climate and best time to visit Tabo 

The summer in Tabo which begins in May and ends in October is extremely pleasant with an average temperature of 13 degree Celsius recorded. There exist no monsoon season in this region. The winter which arrives in November and departs in April is extremely severe with the mercury dropping to below 0 degree Celsius i.e. -37 degree Celsius. So the ideal time to visit this scenic hill station is during the summer from May to October.

Places To Visit Around Tabo

The only major tourist attraction located in this picturesque hill station is the Tabo monastery.

Also commonly referred to as the “Ajanta of the Himalayas” is the TaboChos-Khor Monastery. This monastery was established way back in the year 996 AD. Darlaghat: Darlaghat is a pristine sanctuary located on the Shimla-Bilasour Road. This sanctuary is home to sambhals, red jungle fowls, leopard, black bear, barking deer, and wild boars. A wide range of migratory birds also can be seen.

Bundlamata Temple: It is a very popular Hindu shrine of the area that was built five centuries back. The temple enjoys a great environment with lush green tea gardens all around. The temple architecture mainly consists of prehistoric art. 

Saurabh Van Vihar: This is a park named after a popular Indian Army officer Captain Saurabh Kalia, it is located amidst the lofty Dhauladhar Mountains. This park provides shelter to a variety of flora and fauna including many medicinal plants. The park includes open air theatre, Tiger Hill Bridge, children’s park, health trails, water streams, and picnic sheds. 

Andretta: This is also known as the artist’s village where tourists will encounter a unique cultural blend. There are several amazing handicraft shops selling a variety of miniature paintings from Norah Richard’s house, KangraShobha Art Singh Gallery, and Norah Center for the arts.

Suketi Fossil Park: Is considered to be amongst the most famous fossil parks in Asia. This park is also popular for its Fibre Reinforced Plastic (FRP) models of prehistoric animals. This park is located on the left side of the Markanda River.

Craignano: Located on the Shimla-Naldehra Highway, this is a lovely villa located at an elevated height offering a great view of the surrounding. Constructed by Italian photographer Chevalier Federico Peliti, it is ideally situated on a cliff and is encompassed by woods of pine and oak with small streams flowing by. The building showcases a colonial architecture with a sprawling garden, stone benches, and night lamps on the premises. There are ample opportunities for angling, rappelling, and rock climbing here. 

Wild Flower Hall: Nestled on the gorgeous Mahasu Peak, it is the ex-residence of Lord Kitchener. It is surrounded by pine and green cedar forest. The view of the mighty Himalayas is just breath taking.
