Occupying an area of 4,102 square kilometers and nestled in the Western Ghat in Karnataka is an extremely scenic and popular tourist hotspot called “Coorg or Kodagu district”. This district is also known as “Kodava Nadu”. This region is known for its coffee and for an indigenous group of people known as “Kodavas”. And so the food in this region essentially consists of authentic Kodava cuisine. A few popular Kodava delicacies include AkkiOti i.e. rice chapattis, variety of Pattus (steamed fish), Baimbale curry (a preparation of bamboo shoots) etc. Apart from the local Kodava food other cuisines such as Indian, Chinese, Continental, Tibetan etc are also available. Since this region is a popular tourist destination there are a number of restaurants that are available. A few popular ones are as follows.
