Wayanad is a scenic district located in the north-east of Kerala. This district is a part of the southern tip of the Deccan plateau. It is also known as “Mayakshetra”. According to folklore the word Wayanad was derived from a combination of the word “vayal” meaning padding fields and “naad” meaning land i.e. The Land of Paddy Fields. The cuisine of this region is mainly coastal in nature. Although, other types of cuisines such as Chinese, South Indian, North Indian etc are also available. As Wayanad is a popular tourist attraction there many restaurants available in the district capital called “Kalpetta”. A few popular ones are as follows.
