Lansdowne is a scenic town in Uttarakhand that was founded in 1887 and, named after the then Viceroy of India Lord Lansdowne (1888-1894). It was originally named “Kaludanda” which means “Black Hill”. This small hamlet located in the Pauri Garhwal district and elevated at an altitude of 1700 meters above sea level is known for its scenic beauty. This beautiful hill station also provides for a tranquil atmosphere. As for food in this region a variety of cuisines such as Chinese, Indian, Mughlai, Marwari, Garhwali, and Continental are available. The local cuisine of Uttarakhand is also popular.
