Life in a big city like Mumbai is full of stress and, one of the best ways to relax is to travel to a perfect getaway destination. One such perfect getaway destination and in close proximity to Mumbai is a beautiful town called “Karjat” located in the Raigad district in the state of Maharashtra. It is situated in the BhorGhat at an altitude of 636 above sea level. This city is known for its scenic beauty. The landscape of Karjat makes it an ideal spot for adventure sports like trekking, hiking, mountain climbing etc.  This destination is also supposed to be extremely beautiful during the monsoons. Its close proximity to Mumbai makes it a perfect weekend getaway for “Mumbaikars”. The closest airport is the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai located at about 90 km from Karjat. The Mumbai Airport is well connected to many major cities domestically and internationally.

Climate and the best time to visit Karjat

The climate of Karjat, in general, is pleased with, the temperature during summer months beginning in March and ending in June ranging from 27 degrees to 39 degrees.  The rainfall received during the monsoons that begins in July and extends to September is moderate. During the monsoons, Karjat also looks stunning due to the presence of greenery. While the temperature during the winter months December to February varies from 11 degrees to 27 degrees. The best time to visit the beautiful getaway destination is from November to August.

  1. Kondheshwar Temple: Is a temple located in Sandshi and its stunning architecture is what makes it an ideal tourist destination. It is also known for its exquisite natural beauty.
  2. Ulhas Valley: Is a beautiful valley in Karjat that is popular for its evergreen looks. This valley looks magnificent during monsoon and hence is quite popular with tourists.
  3. Bahiri Caves: Is a unique spot that attracts devotees as well as adventure fanatics. It attracts devotees because it is home to Lord Bahiri as per local belief. On the other hand, the landscape is ideal for adventure sports like trekking.
