Kudremukha which literally means “horse face” in Kannada is a beautiful hill station located in the state of Karnataka. It is located in the Chikkamagaluru district at an altitude of 6,214 feet above sea level. This picturesque mountain range is considered to be the third highest peak in the state following Mullayangiri and Baba Budangiri. In addition, it is located at a distance of 48 km from Karkala and 20 km from Kalasa.

By road:
If you intend to drive to Kudremukha then the ideal starting point would be Bangalore which is located at a distance of 331 km away from this hill station. Now, the ideal route available from Bangalore to Kudremukha is as follows
Via NH-48
This is an extremely short route and includes connecting to the Rajbhuvan Road and the Chowdaiah Road/Sankey Road to the CV Raman Road in Kondandarampura. You will now need to drive towards Doddamandiganahalli and connect to Belur Road to NH-234. From NH-234 connect to SH-66 in Attigere. Finally, connect to SH-106 and SH-66 to eventually reach Kudremukha.
By air:
The closest airport is located at a distance of 190 km in Mangalore. The Mangalore Airport is well connected to major cities and towns in the country.
Climate and best time to visit Kudremukha
The summer months in Kudremukha which begins in March and ends in May is hot with the temperature ranging from a maximum of 37 degree Celsius to a minimum of 32 degree Celsius. The rainfall received during the monsoons which begins in June and ends in September is “heavy”. The winters in this hill station which begins in November and ends in February is extremely pleasant with the temperature ranging from a maximum of 33 degree Celsius to a minimum of 10 degree Celsius So, the ideal time to visit this scenic hill station is from October to March during the winter season.

Kalhatti Falls
KalhattiFalls is one of the major tourist attraction located in close proximity to this hill station. This waterfall is renowned for providing picturesque views of the gushing water from Chandra Drona Hills. In addition, a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva called “Veerabhadreshwara Temple” is located just below this beautiful waterfall.
Hebbe Falls
The Hebbe Falls is yet another major tourist attraction located around this hill station. Similar to the Kalhatti falls it is renowned for providing picturesque views of the water gushing from an altitude of 168 meters. The water flowing through this waterfall is supposed to possess medicinal properties, and thereby helps in curing skin diseases. In addition, the scenic and pristine environment that surrounds this waterfall makes it an ideal picnic spot.
