Climate and the best time to visit Pahalgam Hills
The climate throughout the year in Pahalgam is pleasant. The summer that begins in March and ends in June are mild with the temperatures ranging from 11 degrees to 25 degrees. The rainfall received during the monsoons that begin in July and end in September are scanty. While the winter months that start from October and end in February are severe with the mercury even dropping to zero degree temperatures. The best time to visit this hill station is in between March to November.

- Amarnath Caves: A significant Hindu pilgrimage centre is located at a distance of 55 km from Kokernag. These caves are dedicated to Lord Shiva and they are also home to naturally occurring ice Shivlinga.
- Betaab Valley: Is a valley located in Pahalgam which is famous for its surrounding snow clad mountains, pine trees, deodar trees, and Sheshnag River. This valley is also ideal for adventure enthusiasts. This valley got its name after the Sunny Deol and Amrita Singh starrer “Betaab” was shot here.
- Aru Valley: Is a small valley located at about 15 km from Pahalgam. This valley is located in the grasslands is known for its scenic beauty and is the major reason why it is a major tourist attraction. This valley is also the starting point for trekking the Kolahoi glacier.
