Climate and the best time to visit Pelling
The climate throughout the year in this tranquil town is pleasant. The temperature during summer from March to May ranging from 7 degrees to 28 degrees. The monsoon season is typically characterized by extremely heavy rains and is not the best time to visit. While winter which begins in December and ends in February is extremely cold with temperature varying from -5 degrees to -14 degrees. The ideal to visit Pelling is from September to May.
Places To Visit Around Pelling
Rabdentse Ruins: Preserved by the Archeological Survey of India, it is of a national significance. The ruins of the palace were destructed by the Nepalese army and have two wings, which are the northern wing and the southern wing. The northern wing was the dwelling place of the royal family.
Singshore Bridge: This suspension bridge is supposed to be the second highest gorge bridge in Asia. This bridge is a shining example of a true engineering marvel. This Bridge connects two hills at its two ends.
Sangachoeling Monastery: Located on top of a hill, this monastery was constructed by Lama LhatsunChempo and is accessible by 4 kilometers walk through a dense wood.
Rimbi Waterfalls: This is one of the biggest attractions of Pelling with water falling from a towering height.
Sangay Waterfalls: This is another treat for the eyes with water gushing down with roaring sound and is a great attraction for the tourists.
Khecheopalri Lake: It is a very serene location. Considered to be a holy lake of the Hindus and the Buddhists, it is located in the Khecheopalri village. The surrounding is covered by temperate forest that adds to the ravishing beauty of the region.
Kanchenjunga Falls: It takes nearly an hour to reach this perennial waterfall. A series of small steps reaches to the base of Kanchenjunga Falls.
Other places of tourist interest in close proximity to Pelling include Rinchenpong, Legship, Yumthang, Yuksom, Namchi, Rumtek, Ravangla, HeeBurmiok, and Dzongri.
