Apart from serving as the capital city of “Jharkhand”, Ranchi is also a picturesque hill station. Ranchi possesses its own railway station. The Ranchi Railway Station apart from being connected to major cities in the state is also well connected to major cities in the country such as Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Bangalore, Mysore, Lucknow, Chennai, Kanyakumari, Puri, Ahmedabad and Jaipur etc.
- By road:
If you intend to drive to Ranchi, the ideal starting point would be Bokaro located at a distance of about 110 km. The NH-320 route is to be taken which includes Chargi, Dardag, Mesra, and finally Ranchi. In addition, this route is inclusive of tolls.
- By air:
Ranchi possesses its own airport. The BirsaMunda Airport is well connected to a number of major cities in the country such as Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and Patna etc via major airlines such as Jet Airways, Air India, Go Air and Indigo.
Climate and the best time to visit Ranchi
The summer which begins in March and ends in June in Ranchi is extremely hot with the temperature ranging from a maximum of 36 degree Celsius to a minimum of 16 degree Celsius. The rainfall received during the monsoons which begins in July and ends in September is “moderate”. The winter which arrives in November and departs in February is extremely cold, with the temperature ranging from a minimum of 1 degree Celsius to a maximum of 30 degree Celsius. So the ideal time to visit this scenic place is from October to February during the winters.

- Angrabadi Temple Complex
The Angrabadi Temple Complex is yet another popular Hindu shrine located in Ranchi near village called Khunti. This temple is dedicated to multiple Hindu gods that include Lord Ganesha, Lord Shiva, Lord Ram and Lord Hanuman. In addition, this temple complex was renamed to “AmreshwarDham” by a revered Hindu saint known as “Seer Shankaracharya Swami SwarupanandaSaraswathi”.
- Muta Crocodile Breeding Centre
The Muta Crocodile Breeding Centre is popular tourist attraction in this region comprising of more than 50 types of crocodile. It is renowned for breeding rare species of crocodile.
- Surya Temple
The Surya Temple is yet another popular Hindu shrine located in this region. Furthermore, it is said to be dedicated to Lord Surya i.e. Sun God according to Hindu mythology and was constructed by a charitable trust called Sanskrit Vihar.
- Birsa Zoological Park
The Birsa Zoological Park also known as BirsaJaivikUdyan is located near Ormanjhi in Ranchi. This park is renowned for its exotic wildlife that includes tigers, monkeys, lions and deer. In addition, this park is considered to be eco-friendly.
