Climate and the best time to visit Solan
The climate of Solan can best be described as sub temperate. The summer months of March to May are pleasant with temperature varying from 15 degrees to 25 degrees. Solan experiences irregular to moderate rainfalls during monsoons which begin in June and end in September. The winters from December to February can be harsh with the temperature varying from 20 degrees to -2 degrees. Nalagarh Palace: Located on the top of a hill, the Nalagarh Palace features nicely trimmed gardens. The architecture depicts a unique combination of Mughal and Indian style. The captivating views of the Shivalik ranges make this heritage resort a popular site.
Kuthar Fort: In close proximity to Arki and Subathu, this fort is an imposing structure that is said to be 800 years old. The area boasts of several fresh-water springs. The Gurkha Fort and Kunihar, located at short distance from this fort, are other must-visit sites.
Majathal Sanctuary: This wildlife hub, sprawling over a wide area, is home to a variety of flora and fauna. These include the endangered Cheer Pheasant, white backed vulture, black francolin, the Himalayan palm civet, yellow throated marten, langur, Himalayan black bear, barking deer, gorals, goats, etc.
Shoolini Temple: This holy temple is devoted to Goddess Sholini. The annual Shoolini fair during the last week of June draws huge crowds.
Kiarighat: It is a scenic spot located on the way from Chandigarh to Shimla.
Darlaghat: Darlaghat is a pristine sanctuary located on the Shimla-Bilasour Road. This sanctuary is home to sambhals, red jungle fowls, leopard, black bear, barking deer, and wild boars. A wide range of migratory birds also can be seen.
