Named in memory of Lord Wilson, the Governor of Mumbai from 1923 to 1928 “Wilson Hills” is a charming hill station in the state of Gujarat elevated at an altitude of 750 meters above sea level. It is located at about 130 km from Surat and 60 km from Valsad. This hill station is famous for its beautiful hills, aromatic flora, and exotic wildlife. This combination of scenic beauty and a wide range of flora and fauna have contributed in making Wilson Hills a popular tourist destination. Apart from its natural beauty, the landscape of this hill station is ideal for adventure sports such as rock climbing, mountaineering etc. The dense forests that surround this region only add to its beauty. So if you are true to nature lover or an adventurer looking for an adventure then “Wilson Hills” is certainly a destination that you need to visit.

The nearest railway station to Wilson Hills is in Valsad. Taxi services are available from Valsad Railway Station to Wilson Hills.

By road:

There is a number of bus services available from places such as Dharampur, Surat, Valsad, Navsarietc to Wilson Hills.

By flight:

The closest airport to Wilson Hills is in Surat which is located at a distance of 130 km. Taxi services are available from Surat Airport to Wilson Hills. The nearest international airport is in Mumbai.

Climate and the best time to visit Wilson Hills

The climate in Wilson Hills is pleasant right throughout the year. The summers are cool and breezy and hence the temperature during this period is pleasant. Winters are cold and winter wear is essential when traveling during this period. The rainfall received during monsoon ranges from moderate to heavy and it during this period that a lot of greenery in the surroundings is observed. The best time to visit Wilson Hills is from October to March.

Places To Visit Around Wilson Hills

Radha Krishna Temple: This is a sacred temple of the Hindus and is constructed in a typical colonial style of architecture. The sloping roof and the beautiful plaster work truly deserve applause. 

Lady Wilson Museum: This museum has several sections on toys, anthropology, arts and music, industry, and tribes. There is a fantastic selection of tribal, western, and Indian musical instruments in the music section.  There are also amazing paintings of ‘Pahari’ style. 

Barumal Temple: This is a beautiful temple devoted to Lord Shiva. 

Sunrise Point and Sunset Point: The best of sunrise and sunset can be enjoyed by tourists from here. Steep Valley Point and the Ozone Valley Point are some other sites of tourist interest, which lie in close proximity. 

Other places of tourist interest in close proximity to Wilson Hills include Parnera Fort and Tithal Beach, where one will come across shrines of Lord Shri Swami Narayana and ShriSai Baba.
